Wonder woman (Alias: Diana Prince) is a DC comics superhero, who made her first appearance in All Star Comics #8, 1941.
The Amazonian demigoddess was created by William Moulton Marston, and is considered a feminist icon fighting for justice, love and gender equality. Marston’s intention was to create a different archetype of femininity in order to empower women and allow them a more diverse roll in society.
Although the beginning of her tales focused on fighting enemy military and supervillains, her origins were re-written focusing heavily on Greek mythology deities and monsters. Her character appeared in a TV show staring Lynda Carter as well as animated shows, and will have her film debut in the upcoming film Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016).
With her special abilities of superhuman strength and flight, along with her expertise in hand to hand combat, she uses her indestructible bracelets, her tiara, and most famously, the Lasso of Truth to restore order, sometimes alongside her justice league colleagues. But throughout all of her character changes made by the different writers over the years, her compassion and non-discrimination have prevailed as her core qualities.
