The original “The Muppet show” (1976-1981) told the story of Kermit the frog, the manager of a theater, and his endless struggle to put on a weekly show. While dealing with the stars of the show and their eccentric star-like behavior, he must navigate all the behind-the-curtain drama in order to make sure the show goes on at all costs. Each episode featured a guest human star as well, who joined the regular crew in conversation and songs.
Muppets Main Characters
Kermit the frog
The leader of the group and the show’s protagonist, sensible, pragmatic and wants nothing more than doing his job while avoiding the star drama around him as much as possible, which presented a real challenge to his serenity and aggravated nerves.
The house’s star diva, Miss Piggy is certain she is destined to be a star, and will stop at nothing to get her way. While trying to resent an image of feminine charm, she is capricious and might fly into a violent rage when feeling insulted, including her trademark karate chop. During the show, her feelings towards Kermit and her consistent romantic advances were regularly shown, though he rebuffed her feelings. Later on, in films, Kermit returned her affections and even married her.
